25 Beach Bags and a Clear Mind: Taming the Chaos for Better Business
Look around, really take in your surroundings. Are you inspired by the items on your desk or the possessions you treasure? Now, think of the people that you spend the most time with, we naturally become like those close to us. We mirror their habits, energy and attitude. Are you being lifted up and encouraged to succeed?
A small shift can make a big impact. Adding a vase with bright flowers or a book with a powerful title can inspire you. Music is motivational! What is on your playlist? Music can immediately change the energy in a room.
Saleztrax has adopted a culture of positivity, not by accident but by design. We have a tag line of Positively Processing for Success! We are fueled by Jon Gordon’s book The Energy Bus that tells a story of a man down on his luck in all aspects of his life. His journey finds him riding a bus to work while his car undergoes repair. His environment is immediately changed as he is thrust into a bus filled with intentionally positive people. This new positive environment changes his life! This reminds me of a quote by Jim Rohn, Entrepreneur and Motivational Speaker: "You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.” Who is in your circle of 5?
A positive mindset is a choice; your mindset is influenced by your environment. There is a cost to clutter; the visual chaos forces our brain to make sense of the mess before it can focus on productivity.
While writing this article, I looked around at my own space. I saw boxes piled up in a corner of the room, a mountain of beach bags in a closet, I counted 25 beach bags! Who needs 25 beach bags? My desk is filled with inspiration, but was also over-run with papers, Post-it notes and legal pads. YIKES, I needed to take control of the chaos and do it fast! I got to work. Organizing one closet led to another, then a drawer and soon an entire room. It took me an entire day, but the benefit was instant. I felt liberated—my energy surged, and my creativity bloomed.
Changing your environment can also mean changing your location. Taking a walk outside will clear your mind, relocating your workspace to a window view will provide a new perspective. If you work from home, make a change, relocate to a local coffee shop that inspires you.
Your environment matters. Make Yours INSPIRING!
· Positive People encourage positive results
· Spaces clear of clutter deliver clear focus
· Structure your surroundings with purpose, create meaningful success
